Windsor will get $2.8M fee for internet hosting Caesars Windsor

The City of Windsor continues to reap the benefits of hosting Caesars Windsor.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has made a payment of $2,862,933 to the City, covering the first quarter of the 2022 fiscal year. Since Caesars Windsor opened in its current form in 1994, the City has received a total of $75,877,845 as a host community.

“OLG’s land-based casinos are once again providing an important stream of revenue to gaming host communities through Municipality Contribution Agreements,” said Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy in a media release. “Municipalities rely on this funding to maintain essential programs and services, and to help improve the lives of people across Ontario.”

Payments made to host municipalities by the OLG are based on a formula that is applied to all gaming sites across the province, using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the property. The payments are non-tax and can be used by the host community as they see fit.

Ontario gaming sites have generated a total of $1.86-billion in host community payments since 1994.
