Today, Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out in their neighborhood to volunteer at a local foodbank. They visited Windsor Foodshare, an organization that gives food to those in need.

“They were just so friendly,” Sarah Kember, manager of Windsor Foodshare, told People. “We found them so open and putting us at ease. They were comfortable in everything they were doing. They’re such a lovely couple.” Kember added, “They wanted to be involved, they wanted to be hands-on and not just come and see what we were doing. They asked, ‘Can we physically get involved and do stuff?’ I’m more than happy for more hands to help.”

In 2022, the family moved to Windsor before the school year, making their home base Adelaide Cottage. Prince William and Kate’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis started attending Lambrook School in Berkshire. Now, the Waleses are getting involved in the local community. At Windsor Foodshare, Kate shared that their kids were aware of the foodbank—their school, Lambrook, is a supporter of the project.

The Prince and Princess of Wales spent the majority of their time at Windsor Foodshare helping to sort donations, and preparing packages for pick-up by families in need. Here, see the best photos from their volunteer outing:

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Windsor Foodbank today, a local charity.

Kate looked glam in a hot pink Hobbs London coat and matching Hobbs turtleneck, that she paired with wide-legged navy pants.

Inside, they got to work. Here, Prince William checked the label of a can.

“I actually think it’s really lovely,” a volunteer named Emma said of the Prince and Princess of Wales volunteering. “They’re living mostly in Windsor, and it’s really lovely that they want to be involved I their community, which is exactly as it should be.”

The Princess of Wales looked extremely focused as she worked on packaging bags.

“They did alright. One was better than the other, but I won’t say which,” Kember, the Windsor Foodshare manager, joked about the royal couple.

The Prince of Wales joked around with volunteers.

“‘We would love to come back without the entourage,” Prince William told volunteers at one point.

“Kate in particularly wanted to know about the quality and the quantity of food. She asked a lot of questions about the tinned meat, which doesn’t look that appetizing but obviously we can’t serve fresh. And she was really impressed with the fact that we offer some fresh food such as fruit and vegetables and eggs,” volunteer Jane said.

She added, “They were both also really taken about the respect we offer people, our clients. And Kate liked the fact that we have children in here and learn very early on that others are not as fortunate as them.”
