Girls soccer

Severance 3, Weld Central 1, in Severance: While Weld Central was unable to pick up a win in its season opener, Severance managed to climb above .500 with its second consecutive nonleague win. All four goals came in the second half. Senior Abbi Arnold recorded a hat trick for the Silver Knights, who improved to 2-1.

Boys swimming and diving

227 Windsor, 64 Longmont, in Longmont: Windsor continued its strong start to its season, winning all 12 events. Sophomore Jake Eccleston won two events — 100-yard butterfly (53.04 seconds) and 100 backstroke (55.62). The Wizards also received first-place performances from senior Theo Mascarenas (1-meter diving, 176.50 points), sophomore Booker Whittington (50 freestyle, 25.22), sophomore Keegan Nichols (100 freestyle, 54.55), sophomore Talmage McGehee (100 breaststroke, 1 :10.53), Andrew Tschetter (200 freestyle, 1:56.12), junior Nathan Russell (200 individual medley, 2:16.31), freshman Erik Hasecoster (500 freestyle, 5:44.69), their 200 freestyle relay team (1:37.50) , their 200 medley relay team (1:59.73) and their 400 freestyle relay team (3:40.15).

Boys volleyball

Peak to peak 3, severity 0, in Lafayette: Severance fell under .500, 3-4, with a 25-13, 25-22, 25-16 nonleague loss. The Silver Knights — playing boys volleyball for the first time — will enjoy spring break next week before returning for a home match against Greeley Central on March 29.
