No accidents in South Windsor automotive hearth | South Windsor

SOUTH WINDSOR — No one was injured Tuesday in a vehicle fire in the driveway of a Farnham Road residence, and the flames were knocked out before any extensive damage was sustained by the home, fire officials said.

The fire was located on the street’s 200 block after dispatch received numerous calls reporting a car on fire that possibly extended into the house. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene just after 6 pm, according to the department press release.

Fire Chief Kevin Cooney said the occupants were able to re-enter the residence after the fire was extinguished, adding that upon investigation it was determined that some vinyl siding on the house melted, but there was no damage to the home’s garage interior or a second car parked inside.

The car that caught fire was parked about 10 feet from the home, and the heat from the flames caused the damage to the structure’s cosmetics, Cooney said.

The rire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
