Monroe man this in East Windsor automobile crash – Trentonian

EAST WINDSOR – An elderly Monroe man died in a two-car accident Thursday evening.

According to law enforcement, around 7:30 pm Thursday, police were dispatched to the intersection of Route 571 and Route 535 where they found a two-car accident. Police say that a preliminary investigation revealed that 82-year-old Akhter Shaikh, of Monroe, was driving eastbound on Route 571 when he attempted to turn left onto Route 535 and collided with another vehicle.

Shaikh was taken to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro where he was later pronounced dead. And the driver of the second car, 18-year-old Nikhil Dondapati, of Princeton Junction, was treated at the hospital for chest pain.

The accident remains under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team.

No charges have been filed at this time.
