There is a new dentist in town who is more than happy to care for patients: Dr. Sara Curcio.
Curcio has owned South Windsor Dental for a little over six months.
Curcio’s practice stands by the slogan, “Compassion in Dentistry.” Curcio said the statement is close to her heart.
“All my life, I have always thought of others, really felt others’ emotions,” she said. “With dentistry, I felt I could just relate people being anxious in the chair and the whole process. I just want to make people feel as comfortable as possible.”
The location was formerly owned by Dr. Daniel Segal. When Curcio met with him to discuss purchasing the practice, they shared an instant connection.
“It just felt like we were similar in how we treat patients,” she said. “Once we had the connection, we both knew that it felt right.”
While Curcio kept the compassion that Segal felt for his patients in the office, she has made some changes.
One is updating the aesthetics of the office and another is updating the technology in the office. Evening hours are also new to the office, which are in place of Saturday hours. Curcio and her husband use Saturday for family time.
Some of the staff have retired but others, like Roseanne Sapula, have stayed. New team members have been introduced that share Curcio and the staff’s philosophy of treating others well.
“One of our patients even said you can just feel a really nice energy in the office,” Curcio said.
Prior to starting her own practice, Curcio was a dental associate for 11 years.
The Hebron native said that she and her husband enjoying bringing their two daughters to South Windsor to shop and for leisure time. She enjoyed the area before starting her business.
“It really has a lot to offer for shopping and just that family atmosphere,” Curcio said.

She added that she always makes sure to take a look at the corner of Wapping Church to see coming attractions and activities that she and her family can check out.
“I’ve brought my older daughter to see Annie at the high school and we all went to the Gingerbread House Festival at The Wood Memorial Library. My daughters couldn’t get enough,” Curcio said.
Curcio plans to be visible in the South Windsor community. She hopes to continue her passion for volunteering in the town. In the past, she has volunteered with CT Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile.
“I want to get involved with the South Windsor Food & Fuel Bank and get involved with the schools and more,” she said.
Once she is more settled, Curcio said volunteering will be a top priority. She does not plan on leaving town any time soon.
“It’s nice, I really like it here. It’s like the home away from home,” Curcio said.
