With warm spring weather on tap this weekend, there’s plenty to do in northern Colorado. With events ranging from live music and garage sales to comedy shows and roller derby, there’s no excuse to stay at home.

Here are some of our top picks for things to go and do for $20 or less, with most of the events being free. Have fun!

Friday, May 31

1. Get excited for the Stampede with a kickoff lunch | Cost: $5

A Greeley Stampede Kickoff Luncheon will take place from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Friday at the Island Grove Park exhibition building, 600 N. 14th Ave., in Greeley. Tickets are $5 per person or $40 for a table of eight.

2. Hear live music at the May Play Music Festival | Cost: Free

The fifth annual May Play Music Festival in downtown Greeley takes place from 5 pm to midnight Friday on 8th and 9th Streets in downtown Greeley and at the Moxi Theater, 802 9th St. More than 30 bands will play on six stages. General admission entry is free, with limited VIP tickets available.

3. See live music and drink beer at High Hops | Cost: Free

Mountain Duo wants to perform Friday at High Hops.

Mountain Duo will perform from 6-8 pm Friday at High Hops Brewery, 6481 Colo. highway 392 at Windsor. Food will be available from Bedrock BBQ.

4. Laugh it up at High Brew | Cost: Free

High Brau Taphouse will host a comedy showcase from 7-10 pm Friday at the taphouse, 915 16th St., in Greeley. The headliner is Janae Burris and the show will also feature Will Meirzwa, Maurice Saldivar and Patrick Lowrie. Hosted by Jared Chandler. Doors open at 6 pm

5. Fight against cancer with Relay for Life | Cost: Free

The Relay for Life of Northern Colorado’s annual event begins at 7 pm Friday at University High School, 6525 W. 18th St., in Greeley. Opening ceremonies start at 7 pm and walking takes place throughout the night.

Saturday, June 1

6. Shop at the Windsor Crazy Days sale | Cost: Free to attend

A community yard sale fundraiser for MOPS of Windsor will take place from 8 am to 4 pm Saturday at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut St., in Windsor. The sale is part of the unofficial town-wide garage sale, Crazy Days.

There will be a food truck, a mobile library and refreshments on site.

7. Experience Scandinavian history | Cost: $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children

The Centennial Village Museum will host a Scandinavian theme day from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday at the museum, 1475 A St., in Greeley. Presentations will take place at 11 am, noon and 1 pm

8. See roller derby in action | Cost: $20

The Slaughterhouse Derby Girls will host a five-team round robin roller derby tournament beginning at 10 am Saturday at The Kill Floor, 237 22nd St., in Greeley.

The Slaughterhouse Derby Girls will take on teams from El Paso, Los Alamos, Jackson Hole and West Texas.

Admission is $20 for one day or $30 for the weekend, with discounts for students, seniors and military. Cost is $5 per day for children or $10 for the weekend.

9. See the Windsor fire station | Cost: Free

Windsor Severance Fire Rescue will hold its annual open house from 10 am to 2 pm, Saturday at Fire Station #1, 100 7th St., in Windsor.

The community can see the fire station, meet the fire department staff and see live demonstrations of what the fire and EMS staff do daily.
A complimentary lunch will be cooked by the firefighters from 11 am to 1 pm

10. Attend a luau at Wiley Roots | Cost: Free

Wiley Roots Brewing Company will host its annual luau party, with live music, special food options and newly released beers from noon to 11 p.m. at the brewery, 625 3rd St., in Greeley. A catered pig roast featuring pork and sides will be available for purchase live music will be from Maxwell Tretter.

11. Compete in the bar Olympics in Evans | Cost $20 to support Envision

Play games and raise money Saturday for Envision, an Evans nonprofit that supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, during the bar Olympics at Lit’l Bit Bar and Grill, 3620 35th Ave. in Evans. The $20 entry fee goes towards the organization.

12. Greeley Night of Thunder | Cost $20 general admission, $15 for children, $25 for a pit pass

The Greeley Night of Thunder is from 6 to 10 pm Saturday at Island Grove Regional Park.

The National Sled Pullers Association will host the Greeley Night of Thunder from 6-10 pm Saturday at Island Grove Regional Park, 501 N. 14th Ave., in Greeley. The event is the 2019 Front Range season opener.

The event will feature super farm tractors, antique hot farm tractors, modified trucks, diesel trucks and more on two tracks.

Sunday, June 2nd

13. Listen to reggae music | Cost: Free

Reggae group Luna Shade will perform from 5-7 pm Sunday at Odell Brewing Company, 800 E. Lincoln Ave., in Fort Collins.
